2 reasons why Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost today’s match

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost their match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday. It was a horrendous defeat for SRH as they suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of the home team.

SRH won the toss and was elected to bat first at the Ekana Sports Stadium in Lucknow. Aiden Makram’s decision backfired, as the batsmen were not skillful enough on a slow wicket.

Players like Anmolpreet Singh (31 off 26 balls) and Rahul Tripathi (34 off 41) tried to take the innings forward, but neither could score big. Abdul Samad (21 off 10*) pulled off some quick strokes, in the end, to ensure that his team crossed 120.

Chasing 122, LSG handled the innings as Krunal Pandya (34 off 23) and skipper KL Rahul (35 off 31) helped the home side win the match with relative ease.

SRH bowlers failed to extract similar assistance from the track as the hosts chased down the target with four overs to spare.

2 reasons why Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost today’s match

SRH Batters Struggle

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsmen struggled as LSG bowlers were in excellent form. With the exception of Abdul Samad, none of the batsmen who came in could add any momentum to the SRH innings. Such was the struggle of the incoming batsmen that it looked like they would not even cross 120, after which Samad hit a couple of sixes toward the end.

LSG Gave away very few extras as against SRH

Although this would not have changed the result of the match, SRH bowled a total of 17 extra balls, which included 15 wides and 2 byes. In contrast, LSG conceded just three extras, two of which were wide and one leg-bye.

SRH bowled two five-wides in the match as well. Thus, SRH bowlers and keeper Anmolpreet Singh will have to work on this area if they want to save those 10-15 runs in the match which could be crucial in the matches to come.
