Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 15 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match yesterday (May 17) at the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, Himachal Pradesh.
Electing to bat after losing the toss, DC posted an impressive 213/2 as Rilee Rossouw scored 82* off 37 balls. In response, Liam Livingstone played a brilliant inning of 94 runs in 48 balls. However, Delhi bowlers did well to restrict Punjab to 198/8. With this defeat, PBKS is out of playoff qualification.

Chasing 214, Punjab did not get off to a good start as skipper Shikhar Dhawan (0) dismissed Ishant Sharma at first slip with a faraway ball. Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Tayde added 50 runs for the second wicket. However, Akshar Patel scored 22 off 19 balls and dismissed the left-arm spinner at long-on.
Taide and Livingstone added 78 runs for the third but failed to score and were dismissed for 55 off 42 balls at the end of the 15th over. At the other end, Jitesh Sharma (0), Shah Rukh Khan (6), and Curran (11) were dismissed cheaply.
Livingstone played some exceptional strokes in the losing cause before being dismissed on the last ball of the match.

Rossouw played a brilliant knock for DC in his unbeaten 82, studded with six fours and as many sixes. Shaw hit a brilliant half-century. With the ball, Nortje and Ishant took two wickets each.
Curran picked up both the Delhi wickets for PBKS, while Livingstone played a brilliant knock of 94, in which he hit five fours and nine sixes.
Rossouw was named player of the match for his blistering innings.
