Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been hovering in the middle of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) points table for the past few weeks but now they will have a chance to break into the top four.
RCB will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, May 18. If RCB wins, they will secure the fourth spot in the standings ahead of their last league game.

Royal Challengers are in this position because of their emphatic win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous game, which boosted their net run rate. Mumbai Indians (MI) have a negative net run rate and Royal Challengers Bangalore will go ahead of MI.
SRH has earned only eight points from 12 matches. They made several strategic and selection errors, struggling for momentum during their campaign. None of the batsmen have stepped up and their bowlers have also failed.

Hyderabad has nothing much to lose and could be intent on trying out new combinations in their last two league stage matches.
Faf du Plessis has been RCB’s best batsman this season but hasn’t got much support apart from Glenn Maxwell and the occasional Virat Kohli. Du Plessis and Maxwell have struck the ball cleanly throughout the season and Kohli has been out of form scoring a few runs.
We have already seen a team out to trouble the playoff contenders in IPL 2023.
