The ICC on Friday announced a total prize money of $10 million for the winner of the upcoming ODI World Cup. According to the official statement of the ICC, the World Cup winning team will be given a cash prize of $40 lakh (approximately Rs 33.17 crore) and the runner-up will be given a cash prize of $20 lakh (approximately Rs 16.58 crore).
ICC announced the prize money for all 48 matches to be played in the World Cup starting next month. Both the teams losing in the semi-finals will get an equal amount of eight lakh dollars (about Rs 6.63 crore).
Teams that fail to reach the knockout stage will get one lakh dollars (about Rs 82 lakh). The winner of the group stage matches will get a prize of $ 40,000 (approximately Rs 33.17 lakh). ICC is going to spend one crore dollars (about Rs 82.93 crore) on prizes for the winning teams during this tournament.

World Cup will be played in India from October 5 to November 19. There will be 45 league matches and three knockout matches. This will be the 13th edition of the Men’s ODI World Cup and 10 teams (India, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands) will participate in the tournament.
The tournament to be held in India will begin on October 5 with a match between last season’s champion England and runner-up New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India will start its campaign with a match against Australia on the 8th. Before the start of the World Cup, all the teams will play two practice matches each.
